Theme: Pink 2
21st April 2019
I discovered a new development featuring the City Wall had recently been opened. It was a small enclosure behind the College of Further Education.
At first I didn’t recognise where I was and instantly I felt thrown back in time to my own childhood as the sight of architecture and atmosphere of the school yard and building filled my senses.
Eagerly I started shooting almost frantically as I saw so many opportunities for design with this almost minimalistic and very graphically pleasing scene.
The weather could have been better but I did make a mental note to return and see the difference on a less sunny day.
I ended up with rather a lot of similar shots to choose from as I experimented with virtually every combination of framing an angle I could achieve. I chose this one for its intimacy with the subject which is the pink door the handrail and the accompanying windows. I included the foreground branches and spring leaves for a contrast to the pink and to break up the almost graphically sterile scene.
