Theme: Pink 3
21st April 2019
On the last leg of my thematic route I turned into one of the town’s many back alleyways. It seemed quiet and I would have assumed I would find nothing along there until my eyes were attracted to a pink rucksack lying on the ground some distance from me.
As I focused on the bag I then began to make out a pair of hands grasping a phone. As I felt my sense of curiosity rise I picked up my camera to my eye in haste, not wanting to miss any opportunity.
I zoomed in as far as I could and fired off a few shots until I noticed cigarette smoke billowing from the hideout.
Hoping not be noticed too soon I edged myself closer and closer and more and more to my right to secure maximum chances of the best viewpoint. Continuing to shoot on silent mode as I crept towards my subject I felt a rush of adrenalin because of my ‘necessary’ intrusion on ‘The Hiding Place’.
In retrospect I could have got much closer as I eventually found the subject to be a familiar face. I chatted to her for a while before moving on and then regretted I had not asked for a more posed shot.
